1. Who We Are
GroshMe ("we," "us," "our") is a meal planning and grocery budgeting service available at groshme.com and through our mobile applications. This policy describes how we collect, use, and protect your personal information.
2. Information We Collect
Account information
When you create an account, we collect your email address and authentication credentials. If you sign in with Google, we receive your name and email from Google — we do not receive or store your Google password.
Household profile
You may optionally provide household information including the number of adults and children, dietary restrictions, cuisine preferences, and preferred grocery stores. This data is used solely to personalize your meal plans.
Shopping and meal plan data
We store the meal plans and shopping lists you generate, pantry items you track, recipe favorites, and shopping behavior (items checked off, skipped, or removed). This data improves your future recommendations and helps us build a better product.
Usage and analytics
We use Google Analytics to collect anonymized usage data such as page views and feature engagement. This data is aggregated and cannot identify you personally.
3. How We Use Your Information
- Generate personalized meal plans and shopping lists
- Find current grocery prices and sale items at your preferred stores
- Remember your preferences, pantry items, and favorite recipes
- Improve our recipe recommendations based on your cooking history
- Communicate service updates and important account notices
- Analyze aggregate usage to improve the product
4. Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with service providers that help us operate GroshMe, all of whom are bound by data processing agreements:
- Cloud hosting and database providers — to store your account, shopping lists, household profile, and preferences (data stored in the United States)
- AI service providers — to generate personalized meal plans (we send meal preferences and household size, never your name, email, or other personal identifiers)
- Grocery data providers — to look up current prices and weekly sales at your preferred stores (we send ingredient names and zip codes, never user identifiers)
- Analytics providers — to understand aggregated, anonymized usage patterns and improve the product
5. Data Security
All data is transmitted over HTTPS. Authentication is handled by Supabase Auth with industry-standard encryption. Database access is protected by Row Level Security policies ensuring users can only access their own data. GroshMe is currently free and does not collect any payment information. If we introduce paid plans in the future, payment processing will be handled by a PCI-compliant third-party provider.
6. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access your data — your household profile, shopping lists, and preferences are visible in the app at all times
- Deleteyour account and all associated data — go to your account settings and select "Delete Account." This permanently removes your profile, shopping lists, household data, pantry items, favorites, and all history. This action cannot be undone.
- Export your data — contact us at hello@groshme.com and we will provide a copy of your data within 30 days
- Opt outof analytics — use your browser's "Do Not Track" setting or a Google Analytics opt-out extension
7. Data Retention
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, all personal data is permanently removed within 30 days. Anonymized, aggregated data (such as average grocery prices and recipe popularity statistics) may be retained indefinitely as it cannot be linked back to any individual.
8. Children's Privacy
GroshMe is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. The "children" count in household profiles refers to dependents for portion sizing and does not collect any information about or from children directly.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you by email or by a prominent notice in the app before the changes take effect.
